The falling away

The falling away or apostacy [Gr: apostasia] is deemed to be a “looked for prophetic event” that preachers have spoken about probably in every generation since Pentecost.

Everyone is so sure about what the apostasia actually is because they are so sure about what they believe doctrinally.

If apostasia means “departure from the truth” then it is reasoned that this “truth” is the doctrines taught in the Church and so an apostate is one who does not teach the correct doctrines.

But truth is deeper and more substantial than ideas. Truth is a Person – Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

John tells us

1Jn 5:19  We know that we are(Gr: ek – denoting origin)of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one (or wickedness).
1Jn 5:20  And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding,[(dia)through (nouce)mind or deep thought] that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
1Jn 5:21  Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

John by the Spirit of revelation is telling us that through being INSIDE the person of JESUS inside our heart we may know Father God. We are inside Him who is true….inside Him who is reality!

We are not originating out from the World which is under the influence of wickedness.

Instead we are inside God–our Source of Life–Knowing God in our deep mind–This knowing is not INTELLECTUAL but a DEEP KNOWING….

BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD….kind of knowing. It is reality and substance through FAITH found inside or our shared spirit with Jesus Christ.

“…be renewed in the spirit of your mind.” Paul says in Ephesians….

This is the Gospel Paul preached and John preached it even deeper.

We are knowing God by our spirit joined within Jesus inside of our purified hearts.

An experience

About 2 weeks ago I was talking with my wife about some Bible stuff….and as I rambled on…I looked her in the eye for a moment….

And in that moment -God caught me off guard and His love speared me in the gut. I don’t know how else to explain it.

I immediately stopped rambling and just looked at her.

I said “What did you just do then!?”

I began to laugh and laugh as His love filled and overflowed up out of my spirit…my gut.

I sunk down onto the floor and rolled around laughing sensing the perfumed presence of Jesus.

Once I had “recovered” after about 10 minutes I again said to Carmel…

“What happened? –What did YOU do?

She said—“ahh, umm…I don’t know…I was just looking at you..and I was aware that He was looking at you too through me.

I said ‘that when she did that(with Him) I saw or perceived SUCH A DIFFERENCE between my head rambling on and my gut down around my navel receiving.’

That ONE LOOK did more inside me than all I was trying to say from my mind.

Jesus is in us and we are inside Jesus.

Jesus is inside Father and so we inside Him come to KNOW FATHER THROUGH JESUS….not through our minds.

The knowing is not intellectual through mental ideas but on a whole different plane- or realm….the spirit realm!

Words about knowing God do not convey the knowing of God.

The mind hears those words and says, “Oh I get it” but it is just an idea about God lodged in the brain.

Not UNTIL we taste of the living water can we tell the difference between it and dead water.

John says that THIS KNOWING OF GOD internally in our DEEP MIND–the spirit mind—IS ETERNAL LIFE AND IS THE TRUE GOD!

That means there is a FALSE God

John finishes by saying “keep yourselves from idols”. False gods.

The TRUE GOD is inside you and you are inside Him —-and have NO NEED THAT ANY ONE TEACH YOU(your head) The anointing of the Holy Spirit teaches you…(YOUR SPIRIT) so that you just KNOW Him…and whatever else it is you need to know.

1Jn 2:27  But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.

Same thing again!

1Jn 2:20  But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.
1Jn 2:21  I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
1Jn 2:22  Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son.
1Jn 2:23  Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
1Jn 2:24  Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.
1Jn 2:25  And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life.
1Jn 2:26  These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you.

1Jn 2:28  And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

The Apostles taught a Gospel given to them by Spirit revelation –A Gospel that basically today is regarded as Heresy by a large part of the Church.

The “Departure from the truth” or the “falling away” is to not be ABIDING INSIDE OF JESUS INSIDE OF FATHER.

If we do not abide in Him

Joh 15:6  If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

If we ARE NOT ABIDING INSIDE JESUS IN OUR BORN AGAIN SPIRIT….then what are we abiding in?

Answer: The natural mind…the carnal mind!

Jer 17:5  Thus says the LORD: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the LORD.
Jer 17:6  For he shall be like a shrub in the desert,[WITHERED] And shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabited.
Jer 17:7  “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD.
Jer 17:8  For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit

We either trust in our own ability to understand the things of God and of God Himself —or we have God inside and abide in God Himself.

Jesus and Jeremiah say we shall BEAR MUCH FRUIT if we ABIDE IN GOD alone and not in the flesh mind.

The Flesh mind will see us isolated and alone –barren and unfruitful living in a salt land where naught grows because we have DEPARTED FROM THE LORD the Spring of living water.

As I finish this I am reminded that I read the following story today about a man who had a statue erected in his memory in Australia….a country that prides itself on INDEPENDENCE. They called him “Possum”

During the Great Depression in 1929, when his money was stolen from the boarding house he was staying at, Possum went bush and became a recluse. He declared himself unfinancial when he couldn’t pay his Australian Workers Union Ticket and then lost his shearing job. Disillusioned and disappointed, he turned his back on society and relegated himself to the bush.

Possum was widely known around the Wentworth NSW area. For over half a century he roamed the surrounding bush, having a number of camping spots along the Murray and Darling Rivers. He lived in isolation, preferring his beloved bush and the company of animals, to any human contact. He was renowned for his independence and the long distances he travelled by foot in relatively short periods of times. He was often seen climbing trees in search of honey and sleeping in tree ‘hides’; these habits led locals to refer to him as “The Possum”.

Possum was a shy, gentle person who didn’t do any harm. He always kept himself clean and fit and his pride would not allow him to accept food or shelter. Station owners often found fences and gates mended, wood chopped, sheep crutched, weeds cleared and newspapers missing (although always put back a few days later!). The only payment he ever accepted was for salt and matches.

We may be born again and have followed hard after God but when trouble and disappointment came to us some time back we allowed it to turn us away. We make up excuses for our departure to protect ourselves. We once trusted people and humbled ourselves to receive from them….but now we resist them. We work hard to compensate for our emptiness inside through lack of relationships. Pride and independence are our badges of honour only among other similar types of people.

Just as Jeremiah said and Jesus also—We are cursed by trusting in the arm of the flesh and departing from the Lord.

Fellowshipping together and assembling together –loving one another until Jesus appears to each of us through each of us–this is the result of knowing God in the heart.

Isolation and barrenness, independence and loneliness —covered over by overworking —characterize the one not abiding in Jesus.

Jesus said that the love of many would grow cold in the last days before His appearing.

The horrible things Jesus said would come upon the earth apply pressure which exposes whether we are abiding in Christ or not…..trusting Him or self.

Paul said many would depart from the faith…and that the departure or falling away would reveal the son of perdition…of ruin and loss.

As we saw above The FAITH Paul spoke of everywhere is what John wrote about—TO BE FOUND ABIDING INSIDE JESUS INSIDE OUR SPIRIT MIND–KNOWING GOD FROM THERE…NOT just from up there in the head.

To depart from that place of abiding where we have no need that any man teach us because we have an abiding PERSON in our spirit teaching us by KNOWING…..To depart from that faith life is to FALL AWAY.

We fall away when we make our brain the organ by which we know God. We don’t know God at all that way…we learn ideas about Him…but we cannot KNOW HIM via our natural mind.

When we depart from Him WHO is our very life inside our spirit…and try to find that life from intellectual ideas about God….then we have fallen from grace and have made an IDOL out of ourselves.  That idol self with it’s pride and separateness is the SON OF PERDITION.

The son of perdition is what is seen and what is revealed when we turn from ABIDING IN JESUS —

Abiding is simply resting in all our weakness and inability to do  anything of our self.-

The son of ruin and loss is the fake self–the false image we want to prop up as the real me….the self that we motivate to serve God…the self that tries to be like Jesus….tries to preach like Jesus…tries to heal like Jesus…tries to be a good parent, a good spouse and a good Christian.

This self that we love(and hate)is UNDER GOD’S JUDGMENT for it can never please God–NEVER!! The sons of perdition are going to PERDITION.

Because we choose to live separate from Jesus in our hearts  strong delusion comes to us that will cement our choice ‘there’ until Father burns with His fire and love to set us free.

Even though we are inside of Jesus and He is inside of us –If we imagine ourselves to be outside of Him and separate from Him we are those branches NOT ABIDING IN JESUS which are withered and they gather them together to be burned.

But this burning is to get rid of all that offends and stumbles in the Kingdom.

God gathers out of His kingdom all that offends or stumbles us and others.

At the end of the age as people all over have departed and fallen away from UNION with Jesus in their imagination…God shall gather them all together and burn out of them all that keeps them holding onto their false gods of separated self.

I for one need Him to come burn His love inside me.

I had a glimpse of that love through the eyes and tender heart of my wife.

One look –that’s all it took..

Jesus looked at Peter and Peter wept…

But Peter came back into UNION with Jesus and bore much fruit.
